Swank Lighting!

I don't think I'm defying any interior designer rules out there when I say lighting can make or break a room. Sometimes looking for a lamp is the worst; you either can't find what you're looking for or when you do it's too expensive!

Well, are you ready to have your mind blown? Blog readers, meet Swank Lighting. Swank Lighting, meet my blog readers.

It's not just the products (amazing hand blown vintage Murano lamps from the 40s, 50s and 60s), it's the story that makes Swank Lighting so darn amazing:

From the website:

"When Ed Sexton and Doug Taylor happened across a long hidden, nearly forgotten treasure trove of handblown vintage Murano lamps from the 40s, 50s and 60s, they bought the entire inventory and SWANK LIGHTING was born. The Edward P. Paul Company originally imported these gorgeous high-end lamps from the finest Venetian glass houses including Barovier & Toso, Barbini, Seguso, and Venini. They were marketed under the BALBOA trade name and were sold exclusively at their New York City store. Later, BALBOA lamps were offered at fine department stores such as Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Marshall Fields.Changing tastes and mass production techniques in the 1970s compelled the Edward P. Paul Company to focus fully on their gilded iron furniture business, leaving hundreds of beautiful Murano lamps crated, untouched and all but forgotten in an east coast warehouse. When Ed and Doug came upon what can only be described as a 20th Century archeological find, they purchased the entire contents of the warehouse. They took seven months to uncrate these timeless works of art from Murano and Venetian craftsmen. They then completely restored the Murano lamps using UL Certified hardware.Introducing SWANK LIGHTING, a fabulous collection of original Venetian Art Glass Lamps, updated and ready to show off in your 21st Century environment. If you have any questions, please call Ed or Doug at 512-448-2688. Or email SWANK LIGHTING. Also you can visit their recently opened showroom in the heart of the design district in Dallas Texas, Bond & Bowery, Ruby Lane Shop."

Too amazing.

Check out their website here and their blog here.

AND somehow I forgot to mention that even though the showroom is in Dallas, there's a warehouse here in Austin! You can see these babies up close and personal, and Ed from Swank Lighting has offered to meet any Austinite at their warehouse. Give them a call!
