Sol, the Sustainable Community

We've talked about Sol before on Apartment Therapy:

"KRDB has come up with
Sol, which stands for solution-oriented living. They're claiming it to be the "first net-zero energy neighborhood of its kind". Consisting of 38 lots, these small yet efficient one and two bedroom homes are designed to produce more energy than they consume. Sol will feature lots of aesthetic ideas to set it apart from the usual cookie cutter suburb look (like varied setbacks and gorgeous modern designs)."

Check out these photos they just recently published on their Facebook page!

I don't usually get involved...

...in SXSW event announcements, but this one at Threshold looks pretty good.

"Join us next Wednesday from 4-7 for a SXSW Kick Off Happy Hour at our Downtown office (corner of 5th and West Ave). Catering by Whole Foods Market, free drinks provided by Z Tequila, Paula's Texas Orange and Dos Equis. This party also kicks off our Spring Sale! Come check out showroom pieces that will be 15-40% off retail prices!"

Local Graphic Designer: Simon Walker

Good Lord this man is a logo genius. I had stumbled on his work (or perhaps someone sent it in to me?) a while ago, forgot about it, and then was delighted all over again when I re-found the link I had saved. An employee of the brillant local design firm GSD&M (according to a How Magazine article), these are apparently logos he does as a freelance designer. Whoo boy:

Check out the rest of his amazing work under the moniker Super Furry on Flickr.
